What’s ‘in’ this year for ladies fashion? There’s been a subtle change in the colours – blue, green and purple seem to dominate the shelves, unlike the yellow of the last few years. You can still find yellow, but it’s not as prominent as before.

Just looking in the shops and online, the ladies fashion trends seem to be for gentle, feminine, floaty styles. Maxi or long dresses and skirts are very much in, which will be a relief to those of us way past our teens. The shorter styles are still there so no-one need feel short-changed (sorry!). Classic styles seem to be very much in vogue, which is good news, because these are timeless, never date and can be mixed and matched to make a different outfit for each occasion. They are also very suitable for formal and informal occasions and can be easily accessorised to suit the type of function. Jewellery and maybe light scarves can be added for a formal occasion.

One trend which will not suit everyone is a flashback to 1980s and 90s – think Madonna. It’s for underwear as outerwear. If you like it, go for it. However, I think this will be a trend more for younger women. Well some younger women anyway. I can think of some young ladies who would never be seen dead wearing this.!

Another trend is very much in keeping with blue being one of the favourite colours this summer and this is for denim. This does not only mean jeans, but jackets, coats, dresses, belts and handbags.

Looking through the catalogues, grey seems to be the new black. Light grey and dark grey seem to be more popular than black. Grey trousers and skirts can be teamed up with flowery tops to give a sumptuous summery look and creating the perfect capsule wardrobe.

No matter what type of piercing you get – whether it is a facial piercing such as nose, ear, or lip, or a body piercing such as navel or nipple – there are several rules you should follow prior to getting your piercing done.

The main one is don’t drink alcohol before going to get pierced. Alcohol thins your blood and can result in excessive bleeding from the wound of your piercing. Also if you appear drunk any professional piercist will refuse work on you. So as tempting as it may be (even for dutch courage) avoid all alcohol consumption.

You also need to make sure you have thought your piercing through and it is definitely something you want. Never get a piercing just because you are copying someone else – it should be your own decision and something that you are sure about. Although piercings can be removed, sometimes they can leave small marks or scars on the body.

If you are unsure then you could always take a trip to a reputable piercing studio, they should be able to offer a free consultation and discuss with you what to expect on the day and the types of body jewellery available if you do go through with it. Good luck with your new piercing!

Whether it’s the holidays, a birthday, or an anniversary, you will find that eventually you’ll have to shop for a special lady in your life. Whether it’s your mother, sister, or wife, you can always find a perfect gift without stressing about going into all those girly shops in the mall you hate searching for a gift. Here are some neutral gift ideas for women that are sure to be appreciated.

When it comes to women’s clothing, you don’t have to shop for lingerie, but instead go for a versatile accessory. For example, knowing her favorite color should be a given, so search for a scarf, pair of gloves, and/or hat in that scheme. These always come in handy for the colder months.

If you’re looking for something else, you can always try a pre made gift set of some sort, such as a variety of hand lotions or bath care products. These are useful and won’t be forgotten collecting dust on a shelf.

If you are the more sentimental type, try to put together something that means something to the both of you. Your favorite photos with her in a new album or set of picture frames.

Trends come and go each year as different types and pieces of clothing become popular. These trends often change from season to season – which means that you should not spend the majority of your clothing budget on trends. Rather, spending the clothing budget on pieces of clothing that will become classic pieces and withstand from season to season is recommended.

If you must choose a trend, buy low cost items which can be integrated with the wardrobe, aside from this advice, here are four fashion trends that you should avoid.

Too much satin. Although satin is wonderful, it can often appear as too much of a good thing. You should avoid large amounts of satin and rather use small amounts in an outfit combined with other textures to get the full effects of this fashion trend.

Boyfriend Jeans. Boyfriend jeans are a trend that can be difficult for a lot of women to pull off as they can take away from the shape of the woman.

No Underwear. Although this may seem like the obvious, it seems that many are following this celebrity fashion trend which can cause a major fashion faux pas when it comes to trying to get out of a vehicle in mini!

Short Shorts and Tall Boots. You must have a very specific figure to pull this off – but you will still leave people wondering why you are trying to combine the looks of two seasons. Consider choosing one or the other or opting for mini to reduce the awkwardness which is caused by the outfit.
