This coming season we are seeing some new trends in men’s fashion, and some returning favorites.

When it comes to shirts, the graphic tees are out, and classy, clean cuts are in. This year they are drawing on inspiration from the fifties. Men’s cardigans are all the craze, even in vintage colors such as mustard and navy. Men’s jackets are recalling some military favorites. Styles such as the pea coat. Double breasted is once again a big fashion trend, especially in larger New Yorker trenches with big lapels. Belts are also in, so are dark, stormy colors. These particularly suit the winter season, but going into spring we will start seeing a lighter palette again, and even some patterns. Gingham is coming back, so is hounds tooth, following the retro inspired styles. These textures and patterns are bringing some variation to men’s clothing, hopefully something we can look forward to all year long.

As for jeans, we are seeing some of the old standbys, but the inspiration is changing. It is making a polar turn from the skinny, punk and eighties themed jeans, to bulky, distressed numbers that are bringing the grit back into men’s fashion.

For men, bottoms or pants speak more of their panache and personality. So, when flat fronts become a bore, pleated pants create major adjustments as well as an exciting dare.

It seems that there’s something about flat fronts that creates an illusion of slim thighs thereby enticing most men. But, there’s one attribute of pleated trousers that can never be downplayed: the extra comfort it offers to the wearer and the capaciousness enough for some breathing spaces. The latest collection of slacks in men speaks more of wide-cut trousers and pants signaling that pleats are back once again – this time luring more of men’s attention.

What are Pleated Pants?

Pleated pants are those that are fashioned and tailored by folding the fabric over itself to create a double layer feature. What made these pleated pants a fascinating must-haves is due to the comfort it gives a man. Whether sitting down, walking or even putting hands into the pockets, pleated trousers bring in ease of movement. It is also considered as a safe permanent style, for it is one of the best starting points for men who are renewing their styles yet again and those born with flat fronts for their chinos.

For those dabbler and dilettante wearers of pleated pants, here are the key rules to bear in mind to make that pair of sacks look flatteringly appealing.

Make certain that your top is slim and not loose. Unless you’re a rapper or used to wearing baggy clothes, then this can suit you well. But for those who want to look elegant amidst the roomy bottom should make it a point to wear a fit shirt on top.

The cut should suit properly in your body type. Although flat front pants look well with those who carry excess weight, still pleated pants apart from the extra room gives more appeal to the wearer. If you’re on the heavy side, you wouldn’t want those skinny denims pose your bulging thighs.

Identify if this is really the style and cut that you want. This may be a bit of a challenge to some, but if you know how to carry yourself with the kind of clothes you wear, this style won’t appear like remnants from the past decades.
