What’s ‘in’ this year for ladies fashion? There’s been a subtle change in the colours – blue, green and purple seem to dominate the shelves, unlike the yellow of the last few years. You can still find yellow, but it’s not as prominent as before.

Just looking in the shops and online, the ladies fashion trends seem to be for gentle, feminine, floaty styles. Maxi or long dresses and skirts are very much in, which will be a relief to those of us way past our teens. The shorter styles are still there so no-one need feel short-changed (sorry!). Classic styles seem to be very much in vogue, which is good news, because these are timeless, never date and can be mixed and matched to make a different outfit for each occasion. They are also very suitable for formal and informal occasions and can be easily accessorised to suit the type of function. Jewellery and maybe light scarves can be added for a formal occasion.

One trend which will not suit everyone is a flashback to 1980s and 90s – think Madonna. It’s for underwear as outerwear. If you like it, go for it. However, I think this will be a trend more for younger women. Well some younger women anyway. I can think of some young ladies who would never be seen dead wearing this.!

Another trend is very much in keeping with blue being one of the favourite colours this summer and this is for denim. This does not only mean jeans, but jackets, coats, dresses, belts and handbags.

Looking through the catalogues, grey seems to be the new black. Light grey and dark grey seem to be more popular than black. Grey trousers and skirts can be teamed up with flowery tops to give a sumptuous summery look and creating the perfect capsule wardrobe.

No matter what type of piercing you get – whether it is a facial piercing such as nose, ear, or lip, or a body piercing such as navel or nipple – there are several rules you should follow prior to getting your piercing done.

The main one is don’t drink alcohol before going to get pierced. Alcohol thins your blood and can result in excessive bleeding from the wound of your piercing. Also if you appear drunk any professional piercist will refuse work on you. So as tempting as it may be (even for dutch courage) avoid all alcohol consumption.

You also need to make sure you have thought your piercing through and it is definitely something you want. Never get a piercing just because you are copying someone else – it should be your own decision and something that you are sure about. Although piercings can be removed, sometimes they can leave small marks or scars on the body.

If you are unsure then you could always take a trip to a reputable piercing studio, they should be able to offer a free consultation and discuss with you what to expect on the day and the types of body jewellery available if you do go through with it. Good luck with your new piercing!

This coming season we are seeing some new trends in men’s fashion, and some returning favorites.

When it comes to shirts, the graphic tees are out, and classy, clean cuts are in. This year they are drawing on inspiration from the fifties. Men’s cardigans are all the craze, even in vintage colors such as mustard and navy. Men’s jackets are recalling some military favorites. Styles such as the pea coat. Double breasted is once again a big fashion trend, especially in larger New Yorker trenches with big lapels. Belts are also in, so are dark, stormy colors. These particularly suit the winter season, but going into spring we will start seeing a lighter palette again, and even some patterns. Gingham is coming back, so is hounds tooth, following the retro inspired styles. These textures and patterns are bringing some variation to men’s clothing, hopefully something we can look forward to all year long.

As for jeans, we are seeing some of the old standbys, but the inspiration is changing. It is making a polar turn from the skinny, punk and eighties themed jeans, to bulky, distressed numbers that are bringing the grit back into men’s fashion.

Whether it’s your mother, sister, or wife, you can always find a perfect gift without stressing about going into all those girly shops in the mall you hate searching for a gift. Here are some neutral gift ideas for women that are sure to be appreciated.

When it comes to women’s clothing, you don’t have to shop for lingerie, but instead go for a versatile accessory. For example, knowing her favorite color should be a given, so search for a scarf, pair of gloves, and/or hat in that scheme. These always come in handy for the colder months.

If you’re looking for something else, you can always try a pre made gift set of some sort, such as a variety of hand lotions or bath care products. These are useful and won’t be forgotten collecting dust on a shelf.

If you are the more sentimental type, try to put together something that means something to the both of you. Your favorite photos with her in a new album or set of picture frames.

Spring 2009 celebrates little girls. Hence, everything that’s hot this season is all about the girly, the delicate, and the pretty. Young girls’ shoe trends, in particular, are centered on style, practicality, and comfort.

Ballet flats are sure to make your little lass a hit this spring. Opt for soft and light colors inspired by the season and beautiful adornments, such as quilting, beading, ribbon ties, and bows. Aside from looking cute and dainty, ballet flats are a sure way to make your little girl look stylish and be comfortable at the same time.

For active little girls who prefer to run and play outdoors, pick funky slip-ons with eye-catching and fun prints, like giant polka-dots, florals, hearts, bubbles, and animals. Not only are these shoes comfortable, they are also trendy and give young girls the freedom to move.

School-aged children have nothing to worry about this spring as classic school shoes (such as Mary Janes) are very much in style this season. Go for T-strap Mary Janes in colored leather. Navy is an excellent choice as this color goes well with red and yellow, the favored shades for this season.

Skater-inspired athletic shoes for girls are high on the list of must-haves. This season, these athletic shoes have also followed the girly spirit and feature cute details, such as pretty shoelaces, embellished logos, and pink edging. Who said athletic shoes need to be boyish?

This spring, rain boots are no longer the clunky, boring rain boots of yesteryear. This season’s rain boots come in a variety of fun colors and patterns. Opt for boots in bright, spring-inspired hues and funky prints. Little girls will surely love to splash around in puddles in these shoes!

Many hair care products, even big brand names, have several features that are unsafe. For example, no safety feature for leaving the device unattended and on that could cause possible fires. There are several cases a year of house fires caused by unattended hair care products such as curling irons or hair straighteners. There is also a lack of temperature control can cause excessive heat and burn or fry your hair.

If you want a name you can trust, choose ghd straighteners for all your hair straightening, curling, and styling needs. ghd Styler’s offer several features that ensure safety.

Trends come and go each year as different types and pieces of clothing become popular. These trends often change from season to season – which means that you should not spend the majority of your clothing budget on trends. Rather, spending the clothing budget on pieces of clothing that will become classic pieces and withstand from season to season is recommended.

If you must choose a trend, buy low cost items which can be integrated with the wardrobe, aside from this advice, here are four fashion trends that you should avoid.

Too much satin. Although satin is wonderful, it can often appear as too much of a good thing. You should avoid large amounts of satin and rather use small amounts in an outfit combined with other textures to get the full effects of this fashion trend.

Boyfriend Jeans. Boyfriend jeans are a trend that can be difficult for a lot of women to pull off as they can take away from the shape of the woman.

No Underwear. Although this may seem like the obvious, it seems that many are following this celebrity fashion trend which can cause a major fashion faux pas when it comes to trying to get out of a vehicle in mini!

Short Shorts and Tall Boots. You must have a very specific figure to pull this off – but you will still leave people wondering why you are trying to combine the looks of two seasons. Consider choosing one or the other or opting for mini to reduce the awkwardness which is caused by the outfit.

Look at your mail. The catalogues about childrens fashion and brochures that you easily disregard may point you to the right direction. You don’t necessarily have to buy the items on sale at those materials. But by browsing through, you will get ideas on how you can mix and match things to dress your boys in ways that is fun, cool and trendy.

How do you achieve a casual look for your boys? The first thing that you must make sure about is that their wardrobe has enough materials that you can interchange so that you will achieve different looks each time. Here are some basic must have’s that your boys must own.

1. Get them button-up shirts in various colors, patterns and design. They can use this on top of their favorite shirt for a casual appearance. They can also wear these on formal events when paired up with slacks or black pants.

2. You can also add blazers and cardigans on their wardrobe. They can wear this to look cool or if you want them to look informal or classy, depending on where they are going.

3. Your boys will surely ask you to buy them hoodies and track jackets. So make sure that you allot a budget for such.

4. Allow them to express themselves by letting them choose graphic tees that contain cool phrases, logos and characters that they adore.

5. They must also own shorts in plain and bright colors.

But, there’s one attribute of pleated trousers that can never be downplayed: the extra comfort it offers to the wearer and the capaciousness enough for some breathing spaces. The latest collection of slacks in men speaks more of wide-cut trousers and pants signaling that pleats are back once again – this time luring more of men’s attention.

What are Pleated Pants?

Pleated pants are those that are fashioned and tailored by folding the fabric over itself to create a double layer feature. What made these pleated pants a fascinating must-haves is due to the comfort it gives a man. Whether sitting down, walking or even putting hands into the pockets, pleated trousers bring in ease of movement. It is also considered as a safe permanent style, for it is one of the best starting points for men who are renewing their styles yet again and those born with flat fronts for their chinos.

For those dabbler and dilettante wearers of pleated pants, here are the key rules to bear in mind to make that pair of sacks look flatteringly appealing.

Make certain that your top is slim and not loose. Unless you’re a rapper or used to wearing baggy clothes, then this can suit you well. But for those who want to look elegant amidst the roomy bottom should make it a point to wear a fit shirt on top.

The cut should suit properly in your body type. Although flat front pants look well with those who carry excess weight, still pleated pants apart from the extra room gives more appeal to the wearer. If you’re on the heavy side, you wouldn’t want those skinny denims pose your bulging thighs.

Identify if this is really the style and cut that you want. This may be a bit of a challenge to some, but if you know how to carry yourself with the kind of clothes you wear, this style won’t appear like remnants from the past decades.
