Making Sure the Shoe Fits the Foot

When you’re buying new shoes, get your feet measured every time. Don’t assume that because you were a certain size last year, you’ll be the same this year. People’s feet grow and change throughout their lifetimes, and it’s important to keep up with these changes.
Size is not the only thing that matters. You also have to make sure the shoe is shaped to fit your foot. Your feet might wider or more narrow in some parts, and they may not fit the way that shoe is manufactured.
If a shoe is not comfortable, don’t buy it assuming that you’ll be able to wear it “in”. What you’ll really be doing is wearing it out, and a worn out shoe provides even less support than a brand new one.
Get your feet checked for strain, tension, and other problems by a doctor whenever pain occurs frequently, and ask about foot healthy periodically, especially if you do a lot of standing or walking for your job.
